Electronic Arts (EA) executive Laura Miele said AI has led to a significant rise in creativity at the company’s game studios by removing tedious work, enabling faster prototyping, and shortening development conversations. Miele made the remarks in June 2026 at Game Business Live during Summer Game Fest, explaining that AI helps developers focus on creative work rather than routine tasks [1, 2, 3, 4].

“AI has enabled removing friction from our pipelines and workflows. It’s removed some tedium out of their jobs. I’ve seen faster prototyping, faster creativity, and shorter conversations around creativity and coming to alignment,” Miele said. “There’s a real rise of creativity that comes from removing tedious tasks about development,” she added [1].

Miele also noted AI tools may shorten some parts of the game development cycle, indicating the technology is streamlining production timelines [1, 2, 3, 4].

EA CEO Andrew Wilson has called AI “the very core of our business,” citing more than 100 active AI projects aimed at assisting game development. He described AI as “a powerful accelerator of creativity, innovation, and player connection,” with the company investing in new workflows to integrate AI across teams and improve how they build games [1, 3, 4].

EA leadership has encouraged the company’s roughly 15,000 employees to extensively use AI tools for coding, concept art, and managerial tasks. However, some internal employees have expressed concerns about job security and AI errors, such as hallucinations in code generated by the in-house chatbot ReefGPT [1, 4].

The wider gaming industry is also rapidly adopting generative AI, with companies like Sony PlayStation, Capcom, and Epic Games investing heavily in AI tools to support game development [4].

EA estimates about 60% of its development processes could be positively impacted by AI technology. The company has committed significant resources to AI as part of wider restructuring, including a $55 billion acquisition and $20 billion in debt financing reported in 2025 [2].

EA’s leadership is expected to continue expanding AI integration in its game studios, with ongoing project development and employee use of AI tools planned through the rest of 2026.
