A female spectator was ejected from the Crucible Theatre during the World Championship final in Sheffield after jumping over a barrier and shouting in protest against the television licence. The match between Shaun Murphy and Wu Yize was briefly interrupted in the third frame. [1]

The woman swore as she shouted, "Nobody pays their TV licence anyway, who pays their TV licence?" Referee Rob Spencer stopped her from moving further toward the table before security escorted her out. [1]

The disruption came after another spectator was removed late in Saturday's semi-final between Wu Yize and Mark Allen for shouting, "Never forget the Epstein files." The tournament has also seen repeated warnings about phones, with Spencer telling the crowd to keep them on silent or switched off and warning that disruptive spectators could be thrown out. [1]

The report said the woman is likely to be banned from future World Snooker events. [1]

Earlier on Tuesday, a person was asked to leave the arena after a phone alarm went off just after the start of the 15th frame. [1]
