Henry Pollock has risen from second-tier Champ rugby with Bedford two years ago to 10 England caps and selection for the British and Irish Lions tour of Australia, while his profile off the field keeps climbing too. [1]
The 21-year-old has also played in a Champions Cup final and built a strong highlights reel in top-flight rugby, giving him the kind of footage that travels well beyond the sport. [1]
A British recognition survey put Pollock at 37%, level with France captain Antoine Dupont and behind only former England captain Owen Farrell on 41%. Football still draws a much wider audience, with Jude Bellingham on 71%, a gap that rugby still has to close if it wants more household names. [1]
Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has signed Pollock to his talent agency and said he plans to raise the back-rower's mainstream media presence sharply. Hearn also signed Bath fly-half Finn Russell, and said he believes rugby underplays the value of its individual stars. He told Pollock: "I'm going to make a huge difference to Henry's profile. You're going to see him everywhere. You'll probably be bored of him after a while." [1]
Pollock, for his part, has called for more attention on young players breaking through the grassroots. He said: "We need to spotlight those young stars, those coming through the grassroots, and ultimately the game will grow through that." [1]
Pollock's next major stage is the British and Irish Lions tour of Australia, where he will have another chance to turn rapid progress into a wider public following. [1]
