Dragons were knocked out of the Challenge Cup in the semi-finals by Montpellier, but the Welsh side have turned around a grim 2024-25 campaign under Filo Tiatia. [1]

Dragons finished bottom of the United Rugby Championship last season and won only once under Tiatia, with that victory coming at Newcastle in the Challenge Cup. [1]

Their form has improved sharply since then. After a heavy defeat at previously winless Perpignan in December 2025, Dragons trailed Lyon 21-6 in Newport before fighting back to win, a result that sparked a five-match unbeaten run at home. [1]

They also won away at Stade Francais and Zebre in the knockout stages of Europe. [1]

Angus O'Brien said the run has given the squad “fuel” as they try to keep pushing on. [1]

Even with the improvement, Dragons still have the second-worst record in the URC for points and tries conceded. [1]

Their next target is to build on the momentum after the semi-final exit and use the strong home form and European wins to finish the season with more progress. [1]
