The United Arab Emirates issued a missile threat alert on May 4, the first since the US-Iran ceasefire last month, and warned residents to seek shelter in secure buildings and stay away from windows, doors and open areas. [1]

The Interior Ministry said shortly after that the threat had ended and the situation was safe. It reported no damage or casualties tied to the alert. [1]

The warning came after months of rising regional tension. US and Israeli strikes on Iran on Feb. 28 triggered Iranian retaliation against Israel and Gulf allies. [1]

A two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran was announced on April 8 through Pakistani mediation, but talks in Islamabad on April 11 did not produce a lasting truce. US President Donald Trump later extended the ceasefire without setting a new deadline after Pakistan's request. [1]

Tensions remained elevated after the US began enforcing a naval blockade on Iranian maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz on April 13. [1]
