Queensland’s opposition has accused the LNP government of an integrity crisis over an alleged undisclosed affair between Olympic Games Minister Tim Mander and Child Safety Minister Amanda Camm. [1]

Mander and Camm said their personal relationship began in June 2023, while the LNP was in opposition, and ended in May 2024. They said they were “categorically not in a relationship” when sworn in as ministers after the party won office in late 2024. [1]

Mander said he separated from his wife in April 2025, then reconnected with Camm in June 2025 and the relationship began again. He said, “I immediately sought advice from the Integrity Commissioner and the Clerk of the parliament and made all the necessary declarations in line with that advice and the Ministerial Code of Conduct.” [1]

The Ministerial Code of Conduct requires ministers to declare personal relationships within a month of being sworn in or when a change could create a conflict of interest. Mander said he declared the relationship when it resumed. [1]

Media reports said a July letter from Mander’s sister-in-law to Premier David Crisafulli alleged Mander and Camm had been in a relationship for at least two years. If that claim is true, the two ministers would have been in an undeclared relationship for about 8 months after the LNP took power. [1]

The alleged overlap has raised questions about a government decision to shift the 2032 Olympic sailing event from Mander’s portfolio area to Camm’s electorate. The opposition says that created a potential conflict of interest. [1]

Deputy opposition leader Cameron Dick called the pair’s timeline “just a bit too cute” and said Crisafulli’s integrity crisis was growing worse. A political commentator warned Labor’s attack could backfire and said the alleged affair was not a major issue. [1]

The dispute will likely keep pressure on Crisafulli as the government faces scrutiny over the relationship timeline and whether the ministers met disclosure rules. [1]
