Valor Mortis, a first-person soulslike set in an alternate 19th century during the Napoleonic Wars, will now launch on October 13, 2026 instead of September 24 as initially planned [1, 2, 3]. The PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 game is developed by One More Level.
The delay was announced on June 11, 2026, via the studio’s official social media channels. One More Level said the crowded September release window forced the change. "September has become absolutely stacked with incredible-looking games. We knew this was a possibility, but when you’re in a Partner Showcase as we were, dates get locked weeks in advance. We want to give Valor Mortis (and your wallet) some room to breathe," the studio said [1, 3].
The original September 24 date was chosen earlier this year before other major titles like Control Resonant, Silent Hill: Townfall, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword announced overlapping or adjacent release dates. Blake Rochkind, head of publisher at Lyrical Games, said, "As soon as Control announced September 24th, we knew we were moving the date. Candidly, I think Control looks like it might be a Game of the Year contender" [2].
Even with the new October 13 date, the release period remains busy with numerous high-profile games launching close by [4, 3]. From June 12, 2026, the full extent of the crowded late Q3 and early Q4 slate became clear as the Summer Game Fest concluded [4].
The delay gives One More Level extra time to incorporate player feedback from the Valor Mortis Steam demo, which features two chapters. The studio has acknowledged it will use the extended period to improve the game prior to launch [1, 3].
Valor Mortis was first unveiled in August 2025 and targets a niche blending supernatural elements with challenging, soulslike gameplay [1]. The new release on October 13 remains ahead of other big titles including GTA 6, which launches November 19, 2026 [1, 3].
