Ubisoft has officially revealed Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, a ground-up remake of Assassin's Creed Black Flag, with release set for July 9, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC [1, 2, 3]. The company says it rebuilt the game with the latest version of its Anvil Engine and described it as a faithful remake of the 2013 pirate adventure [1].

Ubisoft said the project stays focused on Edward Kenway's story. Paul Fu said, "With Resynced, we made a clear choice, it is a pure story-driven adventure and we are fully focused on Edward’s adventures in the Carribean," and added, "As a result of this focus, we have elected to not have the multiplayer and not have the DLC." [2] The company also said the remake will not include the Freedom Cry DLC or multiplayer [2].

Reported changes include reworked combat, improved movement and parkour, upgraded visuals and a new dynamic weather system [1]. Ubisoft also said, "This is not an RPG," drawing a line between the remake and the role-playing direction of some newer Assassin's Creed entries [1]. Jean Guesdon called the game "a game full of light" [2].

The original Assassin's Creed Black Flag remains available [2]. The remake follows Ubisoft's earlier plans to target multiple remakes in the Assassin's Creed series, outlined in 2024 [4]. One report also said a remake of the first Assassin's Creed game may be next, but Ubisoft has not confirmed any title beyond Black Flag Resynced [4, 1, 2, 3].

Ubisoft said the game will launch on July 9, 2026, giving players a concrete release date to watch after the company's April 23 reveal [1, 3].
