Nadji Jeter said Insomniac had planned a Venom game and a Venom DLC for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, but those plans changed after Tony Todd died. Bloomberg's Jason Schreier replied, “This isn't true.” [1]

Eurogamer said it is still unclear whether a Venom game was ever in development, or whether one remains in development and was not cancelled. The site also noted that Insomniac had previously shown content in a development menu after a March 2024 Marvel's Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus update, including references to free roaming as Venom. Insomniac confirmed the month before Todd's death that it had no additional story content planned for Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Todd, who voiced the symbiote in the game, died in 2024 at age 69. [1]

Jeter made the remarks on the Love It Film podcast, saying, “We were going to have a Venom game. We were going to drop a Venom game and a Venom DLC, but we lost Tony Todd.” He also said, “They showed me how everything was going to be. It was gonna be a Venom video game. Y'all played the Venom playthrough? It was just gonna be a Venom video game.” [1]

Insomniac is currently working on Marvel's Wolverine, and Eurogamer says the game will release this September. [1]
