Ubisoft’s rumored Assassin’s Creed multiplayer spin-off, codenamed Invictus, reportedly drew very negative feedback after a private playtest on April 30, according to leaker and streamer j0nathan. He said he was told the game was “really fucking awful” and added that it could be delayed or even canceled. [1]
The project is said to be a PvP-focused game with gameplay compared to Mediatonic’s Fall Guys, mixing Olympian-style qualification challenges with Assassin’s Creed parkour. Ubisoft Montreal, the studio behind For Honor, is reportedly leading development. [1]
J0nathan said on May 2 that the playtest impressions were harsh. In French, he said there had been tests of Assassin’s Creed Invictus “le 30 avril exactement” and that he was told it was “really awful,” while saying it was due out by the end of the year but had a good chance of slipping or being scrapped. [1]
The game is currently expected by the end of 2026, but its future has been clouded by Ubisoft’s wider restructuring, which has included project cancellations and layoffs. Other recent Assassin’s Creed projects include Shadows, which has been successful, a Black Flag remake in development and Hexe, which is facing turmoil. [1]
The next expected milestone is the planned end-of-2026 release window, though that date may change if Ubisoft delays or cancels the project. [1]
