Pearl Abyss released a major update for Crimson Desert on May 4, 2026, adding two new gameplay features: Rematch and Re-blockade, along with new legendary creatures and pets [1, 2]. The patch, version 1.05.00, is now available on Steam for PC and Mac [1].
The Rematch feature allows players to fight bosses they have defeated before, testing their progression and experimenting with different tactics. Players can start Rematches by lighting a lantern at previous boss encounter spots and using items called Memory Fragments [1]. Rematch includes two modes—Reminisce and Resonate—and can be accessed with any character, including Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane [1]. Starting this week, Rematches will be available against 69 bosses across the game world [1].
The Re-blockade system lets factions retake areas previously liberated by players. According to one source, the patch adds Re-blockade as a headline feature [1], while another describes it more as a mechanic for factions to retake 23 liberated areas involving 13 factions, with optional settings for how often re-blockades occur [2]. Pearl Abyss said it intends to improve and deepen this system in future updates [1, 2].
Pearl Abyss explained the new content as a response to criticism about a lack of end-game combat options after players liberated more regions. The company said, "as more regions of the continent were liberated, opportunities for combat naturally became less frequent. So to keep the sense of challenge alive, we've added the Rematch and Re-blockade content" [1].
They further noted plans to refine and expand the content in future patches: "Building upon this base in future patches, we plan to progressively refine the content and craft a deeper world, so we hope you're looking forward to what we have in store" [1].
