Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era launched its early access phase on April 30, 2026, available on PC via Steam, the Microsoft Store, and on day one via PC Game Pass [1]. Within the first month, the game sold more than 1 million copies worldwide, including 250,000 copies sold on launch day itself [1, 2].

Developed by Unfrozen Studio and published by Hooded Horse alongside IP owner Ubisoft, the title reached this milestone quickly after its release [1]. At the 1 million sales mark, the developers released a detailed early access roadmap outlining planned content and feature updates through 2026, culminating in the full 1.0 release [1, 2, 3].

The roadmap divides updates into four stages. Stage 1, expected later in 2026, will add a co-op Teamplay Mode against AI opponents, enhanced map generator customization, an expanded emote wheel, and a hero skill rebalance [1, 3]. Stage 2 will focus on improving matchmaking, adding an Observer mode for watching matches, reworking elite classes, and introducing alternative creature upgrade paths [3].

Stage 3, planned for late 2026 or early 2027, will bring major new features: an Underground netherworld map layer, the Thieves' Guild scouting mechanic, new neutral high-level creatures including tier 8 monsters, and an Ironman mode for the campaign. It will also include a hero specialization rework, new PvP win conditions, detailed match statistics, raising the spell level cap to 5, and evolving city map artwork [1, 3].

Stage 4 will mark the full 1.0 release, delivering the second and third acts of the campaign, a new PvE roguelike mode (not yet fully explained), custom map sharing, and more Steam achievements [1, 2, 3]. The roguelike mode is a new element for the series, with more details expected in the future [2, 3].

Unfrozen Studio and Hooded Horse will continue to develop the game over the coming months according to this roadmap, adding new gameplay layers and features before the full release. The next major update with Stage 1 content is scheduled for late 2026 [1, 3].
