FromSoftware announced a closed network test for The Duskbloods, a multiplayer PvPvE action game, scheduled for summer 2026 on the Nintendo Switch 2 console [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. The test was confirmed by Nintendo UK on Twitter on June 9, 2026 [2].
The Duskbloods supports up to eight players competing and cooperating with blood-based powers. Players fight challenging enemy encounters and pursue an event called the Twilight of Humanity, where they compete for "First Blood" [1, 3, 5]. This multiplayer design continues FromSoftware’s exploration of player-versus-player and player-versus-environment gameplay seen in Elden Ring: Nightreign, according to director Hidetaka Miyazaki, who said, "I’ve always found the PvPvE structure very interesting. It allows for a broad range of game-design ideas, while also letting us leverage our experience of designing challenging enemy encounters" [1].
The game is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive and features a gothic setting reminiscent of Bloodborne, mixing eras and fantasy elements such as vampire-like Bloodsworn characters and runes [1, 2, 5]. Miyazaki added the game does not have a fixed era or location, including Gothic- or Victorian-style maps and early modern period scenes like a train running through one area [2].
The Duskbloods was first revealed during Nintendo’s Switch 2-focused Direct presentation in April 2025 [1, 2]. While there is speculation from the Australian Nintendo store that the game might support single-player local or offline play, FromSoftware has not officially confirmed such modes and primarily promotes it as a multiplayer experience [6] [1, 2, 3, 5].
No firm full release date has been announced yet, only a targeted launch year of 2026 [1, 2, 3, 5]. Alongside The Duskbloods, Bandai Namco plans to release Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on the Switch 2 on August 28, 2026 [1, 5].
