Nintendo revealed Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, a tactical role-playing game exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2, set for release on September 17, 2026 [1, 2, 3, 4]. The game is the first major Fire Emblem entry since 2023's Fire Emblem: Engage [1, 2, 3, 5, 4]. It features four playable protagonists—Cai, Theodora, Dietrich, and Leda—each with a unique storyline [1, 2, 3, 4].

The story centers on the Heroic Games, a gladiatorial contest held in the capital of the Dagdan Empire, where the winner receives a single wish [1, 2, 3, 4]. Fortune's Weave appears to be a prequel to Fire Emblem: Three Houses, sharing characters and setting elements such as the Dagdan Empire and the return of Sothis [2, 3].

Nintendo described the game as inviting players to "discover an intertwining story of strength and steel," exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 [1].

In addition to the digital edition priced at $69.99, Nintendo will release a standard physical edition for $79.99 and a collector's edition called the Dagdan Collection for $119.99. The Dagdan Collection includes art cards, a map, an art book, and a steelbook [1, 5, 6, 7, 4]. Retailers such as Nintendo eShop, Walmart, GameStop, and Best Buy have reported physical editions selling out or running low [5].

Fire Emblem: Engage, the previous title, released for the original Nintendo Switch in 2023 [1, 2, 3, 5, 4]. Fire Emblem: Three Houses, which Fortune's Weave connects to, debuted in 2019 [1, 2, 3].

The game’s September 17 release is just over three months away, with preorders ongoing at major retailers [1, 5].
