Square Enix released a free demo for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S on 2026-04-28. The demo covers the first 2 of 14 chapters, and save progress will carry over to the full game when it launches on both platforms [1].
Players who have demo save data on the device at launch can claim bonus items, including a "kupo charm" and a "survival set". The demo is 45GB on Nintendo Switch 2 and 91GB on Xbox Series X/S [1].
Eurogamer said the Switch 2 version looks technically impressive, even with some rough edges. The site said the version it played in handheld mode showed texture pop-in and limited graphics options, with settings reduced to Brightness and HDR Luminance [2].
