Evercade's Hyper Mega Tech arm is set to release handheld editions of the Spectrum and Commodore 64 home computers on 15 October 2026, with pre-orders opening on 2026-05-05. [1]
The Spectrum Handheld and C64 Handheld use a clamshell design and measure 136mm wide, 26mm high and 86mm deep. Both have a 4.3-inch IPS screen and similar controls, including a d-pad, four face buttons, four function buttons and menu, start and select buttons. The Spectrum version uses rubber function keys. Each handheld comes with 25 built-in games from its classic system. Both models also include speakers, a headphone jack and a MicroSD card slot for extra games. The Spectrum model adds a USB I/O port for keyboards and joysticks, while the C64 handheld does not. [1]
The standard handhelds cost £109.99. Limited Edition versions cost £129.99 and include the handheld, a hard shell travel case and a magazine sold only through FunStock. Crash! is bundled with the Spectrum edition, while Zzap! comes with the C64 version. [1]
