Elderbrain is releasing Spawns of the Mindrender, a 600-page Dungeons & Dragons adventure campaign that blends 1980s epic metal themes with Lovecraftian horror, the publisher said. [1]
Elderbrain CEO Gabor Dan said the company leans on community feedback to shape its books, with each campaign built from a 100-question survey answered by fans. “It’s all about the community,” Dan said, adding that Elderbrain relies on surveys and Discord input from its hive mind members. [1]
Ed Greenwood, the creator of Forgotten Realms, is contributing a special encounter location to Spawns of the Mindrender that will be available only to pre-launch followers. Greenwood’s content will be unlocked through community voting milestones that cover the dungeon layout, an NPC, a magic item, a boss monster and a new subclass. [1]
Greenwood is also working with Elderbrain on its one-shot series Mindscape, the company said. He said he accepted the offer after meeting Dan at a convention and described the project as “cool” and easy to join once he saw the adventure background. [1]
The new campaign adds to Elderbrain’s catalogue after Crown of the Oathbreaker, a previous adventure that ran to more than 900 pages. Spawns of the Mindrender is set to follow the same community-driven formula that Elderbrain says has guided its past releases. [1]
