The MindsEye community reacted badly after the feature surfaced, with active players on Discord calling it cringe. The backlash came after Joe Reeve posted on 2026-04-30 about vibe-coding a AAA game with the creator of GTA, the former CEO of RuneScape, and Build a Rocket Boy’s head of AI, while showing the assistant in action. Will Jones, Build a Rocket Boy’s head of AI, defended the company’s use of AI coding in a statement on X. He said AI tools will not replace human developers, designers, artists, QA staff or performers, and said the coding agent works because of the system and assets built by colleagues. Jones also said, "I am new to game development, as this is my first job in the gaming industry." [1]
