Wired reviewed Ottocast’s Cabin Care Wireless CarPlay Adapter after a month of daily driving in a 2017 Honda CR-V, saying the device largely solved the problem of checking on a rear-facing 17-month-old while driving. [1]

The system combines a wireless CarPlay adapter with a rear-facing cabin camera that streams to the car’s existing screen unit. Wired said that setup let the reviewer keep an eye on the child without turning around as often during everyday trips and longer drives. [1]

Ottocast’s product is not universal. It requires factory-wired CarPlay, which typically means a vehicle model year 2016 or newer, and it works only with iPhones. That limits the audience even as it adds a rear-seat camera to a familiar infotainment setup. [1]

The review came after 1 month of testing, and the system was used in a 2017 Honda CR-V. Wired’s verdict was based on that period of regular use rather than a brief hands-on demo. [1]
