Alexis Goldstein said she was fired in February 2026 after filming people she identified as DOGE operatives at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and days later she announced a Democratic bid for Maryland's 6th Congressional District. [1]

Goldstein said the encounter happened on Feb. 6, 2025, when DOGE operatives arrived at the CFPB. She said she documented the people at the agency whom she identified as DOGE members. [1]

Goldstein spent about a year on administrative leave before she was fired, according to the account. Her campaign now puts her against incumbent April McClain Delaney in the race for the US House seat. [1]

The CFPB also faced a broader DOGE push in April 2025, when DOGE attempted to terminate more than 1,400 of the bureau's 1,700 workers. That followed Elon Musk's November 2024 post on X, where he wrote: "delete CFPB". [1]

Goldstein's congressional campaign is the next concrete step after her firing, which came in February 2026. [1]
