The Trump administration on Tuesday moved against a former Anthony Fauci adviser, Minneapolis childcare centers run by Somali Americans and Disney, in a broad effort aimed at political foes and perceived enemies of President Donald Trump. [1]
The Justice Department indicted David Morens, a former senior Fauci adviser at the National Institutes of Health, accusing him of using personal email to evade public records laws tied to COVID-19 origin questions. [1]
Federal authorities also executed 22 search warrants in Minneapolis, focusing on mostly Somali-owned childcare centers that investigators suspect defrauded taxpayer-funded programs. The raids marked the first major federal law enforcement action in the city since a February ICE operation was scaled back. [1]
Separately, the Federal Communications Commission ordered Disney to file early license renewals for its eight ABC stations because of a probe into the company’s diversity, equity and inclusion programs. [1]
The actions are part of a wider campaign of retaliation in Trump’s second term, which comes as the president faces rising gas prices and low approval ratings. [1]
The administration’s most recent wave of enforcement also follows changes at the Justice Department. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche took over leadership 26 days before April 28, after Pam Bondi was ousted. [1]
