Microsoft unveiled a limited edition Xbox Series X console called the Xbox Series X25 during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 on June 7. The console features a translucent green design inspired by the original Xbox, allowing users to see internal components on its back, and is marked with a 25th anniversary logo and a green-lit 'X' button on the front panel [1, 2, 3].

The Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition matches the console’s translucent green look. It includes the original ABXY button colors and bumpers that pay homage to the black and white buttons from the original 'Duke' controller. The controller will be sold both bundled with the console and separately [1, 2, 3, 4].

The Xbox Series X25 maintains the power and performance of the regular Series X, including a one terabyte (1TB) storage capacity. Jason Ronald, Vice President of Next Generation Xbox, said the design "respects our history, with the power and performance of the Xbox Series X, including 1 TB of storage, and a design that reflects where we've been and the community that's been with us along the way." He added that users would "discover a few hidden surprises throughout, as a thank you to the community" [2, 4].

The limited edition hardware will launch in November 2026 ahead of the holiday season in select markets worldwide [1, 2, 5, 3, 4]. Pricing and pre-order details have not yet been announced [1, 2, 5, 3, 4].

The X25 edition coincides with the upcoming release of the Halo: Combat Evolved remake scheduled for July 28, 2026, noted as a complementary tie-in to the anniversary console [5].
