U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro said a buckshot pellet from the shotgun allegedly carried by 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen was found in a Secret Service agent’s protective vest after last weekend’s shooting at the Washington Hilton ballroom. [1]

Pirro said Allen shot the agent as he tried to storm the ballroom during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, and she told CNN’s "State of the Union" that the evidence showed, "It is definitively his bullet." [1]

Federal prosecutors have charged Allen with attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump and with discharging a firearm during a crime of violence. Pirro said, "He had every intention to kill him and anyone who got in his way on his way to killing the president of the United States." [1]

Authorities had not previously said whose bullet struck the agent before Pirro’s remarks. Allen has been held in custody since the night of the shooting and waived his right to challenge his detention on Thursday. [1]

His lawyers filed an emergency motion on Saturday asking the court to remove him from suicide precautions, and Allen was taken off those precautions in jail on Sunday after the filing. On Monday, his attorneys asked for a hearing that was scheduled to be canceled after they withdrew the emergency motion. [1]
