Audi is preparing to unveil the Q9, its first full-size SUV, later this summer. [1, 2] The flagship model sits above the current Q7 and is aimed at buyers seeking a larger, more premium luxury SUV. [2]

Audi says the Q9 reflects the importance of the North American market, while the reports focus mainly on the cabin and technology rather than full exterior or powertrain details. [1, 2] Audi designer Chris Koelle said the cabin was meant to feel calm and controlled, adding: "When you close the car… what we wanted to create is it’s calming you down in a way and giving this kind of luxury approach that everything is controlled, everything’s floating, everything is quiet and everything is in its place," [1]

The interior is described as having a curved digital cockpit and infotainment screens around the driver. [1] One report says the Q9 will come with 6-seat and 7-seat layouts. [2] The Chinese report also says the SUV will have an 84-piece LED ambient lighting setup, a 22-speaker audio system with more than 1,300 watts, and an upgraded 4D version with seat vibration. [2]

That same report says the Q9 will be Audi's first model with automatic door technology that can be controlled by key, door handle or app. [2] It also refers to the vehicle as the 2027 Audi Q9. [2]

Audi links the front-end interior design to the 2021 Grandsphere concept. [1] The company is expected to unveil the Q9 later this summer. [1]
