FIFA’s independent Ethics Committee banned former Guyana Football Federation General Secretary Ian Alves from all football-related activities for 5 years after finding he sexually harassed female staff members. FIFA also fined Alves 20,000 Swiss francs, about $22,000. [1]

The governing body said the case involved breaches of its Code of Ethics covering the protection of physical and mental integrity, abuse of position and general duties. FIFA said, "FIFA has a strict stance against all forms of abuse in football," as it announced the punishment. [1]

Alves stepped down from his position in 2024. FIFA said the ban took effect on Monday, when the terms were notified to him. [1]

The sanction bars Alves from all football-related activity until the five-year ban expires. [1]
