Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong will visit the Malaysian states of Pahang and Terengganu from May 4 to May 8, 2026, officials said [1, 2].

In Pahang, Lee is scheduled to meet Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, who will host him for lunch, and Pahang Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail [1, 2]. Sultan Abdullah served as Malaysia’s king, or Yang di-Pertuan Agong, from 2019 to 2024, a role that rotates among the states [2].

In Terengganu, Lee will meet Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar along with other state leaders [1, 2]. Ahmad Samsuri is also chairman of Perikatan Nasional, Malaysia’s main opposition alliance [2].

Lee will be accompanied by his wife Ho Ching, Minister for Law Edwin Tong, Minister of State Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim, MP Joan Pereira, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the visit [1, 2].

Singapore said the visit aims to deepen its longstanding and multifaceted ties with the Malaysian states and their leaders [1, 2]. The last visits by Singaporean political office holders to these states were in 2023, when then Minister for National Development Desmond Lee visited Pahang and then Second Minister Maliki Osman visited Terengganu [1, 2].

The visit starts today, May 4, and will run through May 8, 2026 [1, 2].
