Toronto Public Health is giving out free World Cup-themed condoms and other safer sex supplies at four sexual health clinics as Toronto prepares for the tournament. [1, 2, 3]
The condoms come in six designs meant to tie the promotion to the games while encouraging sexual health, Toronto Public Health said. [1, 2, 3, 4] Reported names include “Block those shots!”, “What a finish!” and “Peaches & Cream.” [1, 2, 3, 4] One design shows a peach and eggplant standing in front of a goal. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Toronto Public Health said the campaign aims to “celebrate the energy of the games while promoting sexual health.” [1] The city is expecting more than 300,000 visitors for the World Cup, which Canada will co-host with the United States and Mexico. [1, 2, 3]
The health agency’s website says condom use every time someone has oral, anal or vaginal sex lowers the risk of sexually transmitted and bloodborne infections, HIV and unplanned pregnancy. [1] The supplies are being handed out through the city’s public sexual health clinics as the World Cup runs from June 11 to July 19. [1, 2, 3]
