The Singapore Fringe Festival has confirmed it will hold its next edition from January 13 to 24, 2027, following a public fundraising campaign that secured S$59,592 over three months starting in February 2025 [1].
The funds came from audience members, artists and foundations, allowing the festival to proceed despite falling short of its S$80,000 fundraising target [1]. Melissa Lim, speaking about the campaign, said, "We have been astounded and incredibly moved by the public and arts community’s positive response to our campaign" [1].
Lim addressed concerns about the sustainability of relying on public contributions, acknowledging some doubts but emphasizing ongoing support. She said, "I can understand why some folks think this isn’t something we can repeat every year, but I believe that many still do care" [1]. She also described the previous festival as "a resounding success" that energized the audience and arts community [1].
The festival is organised by The Necessary Stage and was founded in 2005. It focuses on socially engaged art that addresses issues such as mental health, discrimination, climate change and migrant worker experiences [1].
Organisers are still seeking a title donor or main corporate sponsor for future editions to secure more stable funding [1].
The public fundraising campaign began in February 2025 and lasted three months [1]. The 2027 festival dates are set from January 13 to 24 [1].
