Australian children's theatre company Patch Theatre will bring its immersive production The Lighthouse to the 2026 Singapore International Festival of Arts, with performances at The Arts House at the Old Parliament from May 15 to May 24. [1]
The work blends an art installation with scientific exploration and is designed for children and parents to move in small groups through five interconnected spaces over 50 minutes. [1] It explores reflection, refraction, scale and perspective through light-based interactive rooms. [1]
Patch Theatre created the piece with four- to eight-year-olds in mind, though it welcomes audiences of all ages. Geoff Cobham said, "It's a place where light comes alive and you get to play with it." He added that visitors travel through different rooms, each with its own surprises, and may "make shadows dance, catch colours or help light move and change." [1]
Cobham also said children in that age group are in a "remarkable window of development," describing them as deeply imaginative and instinctively curious. He said they are still open to wonder and are beginning to test ideas and build confidence in their own agency. [1]
The Lighthouse premiered at the Adelaide Festival in 2020 and has since toured Melbourne, Perth and Taiwan. [1] Its Singapore run will be part of SIFA, which opens on May 15 and continues until May 30. [1]
