More than 54,000 Singapore citizens and permanent residents aged 40 and above have redeemed over $1.8 million in discounts to reduce their MediShield Life premiums under a Ministry of Health (MOH) pilot program launched on September 18, 2025 [1].

The three-year pilot encourages healthy lifestyles and preventive care by allowing policyholders to use Healthpoints earned via the Healthy 365 app. The points can be redeemed at a rate of 75 Healthpoints for each dollar offset against MediShield Life premiums, compared with 150 Healthpoints needed for other rewards, making the premium discounts more accessible [1].

MOH reported that the take-up rate has been encouraging. The breakdown of redeemers by age shows 31% are aged 50 to 59, 28% are 40 to 49, and 26% fall within the 60 to 69 age group [1]. This distribution highlights broad engagement across middle-aged and senior adults.

Ms Agnes Soon, a policyholder, shared her experience, saying, "As a homemaker, I do not have much MediSave savings, therefore I prefer to save it to earn interest and use it for visits to specialist outpatient clinics or polyclinics." She has made four redemptions since the program began in October 2025 [1].

The program offers potential premium discounts of up to $580 annually. Consistent moderate-to-vigorous physical activity can earn discounts of about $70 a year. Enrolling with a Healthier SG clinic and completing the first consultation also rewards a $40 discount, providing further incentives to stay healthy [1].

In the second half of 2026, blood donors will also begin to receive Healthpoints, expanding more opportunities to earn premium discounts [1].
