Grab started allowing users in Singapore to book cross-border taxis to 5 areas in Johor on May 4, with drop-offs available in Johor Bahru, Iskandar Puteri, Forest City, Kulai and Senai. [1]
The bookings must be made at least 12 hours in advance. Singapore-registered cross-border taxis booked through Grab can pick up passengers anywhere in Singapore, but they cannot pick up riders within Johor. [1]
Grab said fares vary by time of day, distance and whether the trip falls in a holiday season. Prices are cashless and charged in local currency. Foreign currency payments carry extra fees of 3% for credit cards and 2% for Alipay and Kakao Pay. [1]
Toll charges, including ERP fees, are bundled into the total fare. That means passengers do not pay those costs separately. [1]
Grab said its prices are higher than street-hail rates. A street-hail ride from Ban San Street Terminal in Bugis to Larkin Sentral, or for trips within 35 km, costs about SGD 80. After a 20% discount, Grab prices for similar routes ranged from SGD 101.20 to SGD 111.20, depending on the time of day. [1]
The app briefly showed a fare as low as SGD 36 for a cross-border trip from Braddell to near KSL City Mall at 10 a.m. on May 4, before prices later showed more accurate variable fares. [1]
On May 5, the same route cost SGD 111.20 at 9 a.m. after a 20% discount, and SGD 101.20 at 2 p.m. after the same discount. [1]
