Malaysia plans to present its Digital Trust and Data Security Strategy 2026–2030 in the third quarter of 2026, aiming to strengthen cyber resilience nationwide [1, 2]. Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the government will also restructure an existing agency to oversee and enforce the strategy’s implementation. "I hope that in the third quarter of this year, we can present that strategy and also launch the agency that will implement it," Gobind said while officiating the RHB Digital Trust Programme launch on May 21 [2]. "It is an existing agency, but we will have to restructure it so that it can also oversee and enforce the strategy."

Ahead of the strategy rollout, the government is preparing relevant agencies to ensure effective execution of the plan [1, 2]. On May 21, RHB Banking Group launched its RHB Digital Trust Programme, which includes RHB CyberSecure, Malaysia’s first bank-led cybersecurity self-assessment tool designed for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) [1, 2]. RHB CyberSecure helps SMEs understand cyber and fraud risks and assess their cybersecurity readiness [1, 2].

RHB Bank also signed a memorandum of understanding with CyberSecurity Malaysia to strengthen cyber awareness, capability building, and resilience among Malaysian businesses [1, 2]. CyberSecurity Malaysia’s acting CEO, Roshdi Ahmad, emphasized the need for public-private sector cooperation to secure the country’s digital ecosystem. He said, "This partnership with RHB highlights the importance of industry-led initiatives in building cyber resilience. By equipping SMEs with practical tools and knowledge, we are supporting businesses in managing evolving cyber threats while strengthening overall digital trust" [2].

Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo spoke about the finalization of the strategy and its agency during the RHB launch event on May 21, underlining the government’s push to enhance data security frameworks [2]. The strategy spans the period from 2026 through 2030 [1, 2]. The next concrete step is the official presentation of the Digital Trust and Data Security Strategy and the launch or restructuring of the implementing agency in the third quarter of 2026 [1, 2].
