Malaysian discus thrower Queenie Ting Kung Ni said she wants to stay consistent beyond 50 metres at the Asian Throwing Championship 2026 in Mokpo, South Korea, which runs May 2-3. [1]
Queenie, the Malaysian national record holder with a best of 52.77m, said she is aiming for stability rather than one-off distance as she builds toward the meet. “My target for this competition is consistency beyond 50m, and if I can maintain that, there’s a chance to achieve a national record,” she said. [1]
Her most recent competition in Singapore produced a 49.50m throw, which she described as a useful start but still below her target. She said the meet served as a warm-up after the previous SEA Games, helping her regain competition rhythm. [1]
Before travelling to Mokpo, Queenie completed a week-long training camp in Penang to sharpen her technique and mindset. She said the training environment matters because daily life centred on practice and target-setting helps her focus. “The environment is very important for me. When daily life revolves around training and discussions about targets, it helps reshape my mindset and focus,” she said. [1]
She also said she had taken a short break before Singapore and spent time on classes, but is now back in full-time training with studies taking a back seat to keep her on track. The championship in Mokpo is her next scheduled competition. [1]
