The Malaysian Football League (MFL) announced it will thoroughly review feedback from clubs after a roundtable held on April 29 in Kuala Lumpur with Malaysia League representatives [1].

MFL president Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan said the discussion was prompted by the approaching end of the current league season and the new season expected to start in August 2026 [1]. "Today’s discussion was held because the league is nearing its end and the new season is expected to begin in August. Therefore, many clubs shared their respective difficulties, and these matters have been conveyed to the MFL," he said [1].

He added the league will study the views collectively to decide on actions that benefit all stakeholders. "We will take note of all those views so they can be studied together. It is not a matter of MFL profiting or the clubs profiting; MFL’s role as the league operator is to look after these clubs so they are able to remain competitive in the M-League," Ab Ghani said [1].

The roundtable was chaired by Ab Ghani and attended by officials from MFL and club representatives from leading teams including JDT, Kuching City FC, Penang FC, Sabah FC, Imigresen FC, Kelantan TRW, PDRM FC, DPMM FC, Selangor FC, Negeri Sembilan FC, Terengganu FC, Kuala Lumpur City FC, and Melaka FC [1]. JDT owner Tunku Mahkota Ismail made an unexpected appearance during the session [1].

Ab Ghani emphasized that such discussions occur frequently, though not always publicly. "This is not the first time. We do these things often, though we don’t always do them publicly or announce what we are doing. Many issues have actually been written about and discussed by the public previously," he said [1].

The review aims to strengthen the M-League ecosystem and address challenges faced by clubs to ensure a competitive domestic football environment ahead of the new season starting in August 2026 [1].
