The Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) unanimously agreed on May 3, 2026, to propose renaming the National Velodrome in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, to Velodrom Azizulhasni in honor of Datuk Azizulhasni Awang. MNCF president Datuk Amarjit Singh Gill said, "Today, we unanimously agreed to bring this wish (changing the name of the National Velodrome) to the management of KBS and MSN. Azizul's potential should be reflected in the building" [1].
The proposal will be submitted to the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) for approval, as the velodrome is government property [1]. If approved, the existing Azizulhasni Velodrome in Dungun, Terengganu, will be renamed to avoid confusion [1].
MNCF also addressed concerns over the Cheras Velodrome land. The original buyer Jakel has sold the property to another party, complicating plans to build a new velodrome as per the original agreement. "I hope the developer or whoever bought the property keeps their promise. If we can get a velodrome for 'free’ in KL, it will make it easier for our affiliates in KL," said Amarjit [1]. MNCF is demanding the current property owner fulfill the promise of constructing a new velodrome in Kuala Lumpur [1].
At the same MNCF Annual General Meeting, Norazman Abu Samah was elected deputy president for the 2026-30 term with 44 votes, beating Mohd Saiful Abdul Jalil who received 21 votes [1]. The newly elected vice presidents are Muhammad Firdaus Dawod, M Rezal Abu Bakar, Firdaus Arshad, Mohd Zairi Badderul, and Irawan Sudarsono [1].
Datuk Amarjit Singh Gill emphasized merit-based appointments for committee members, saying, "I don’t want to make a hasty decision and will consult with my colleagues. I want appointments based on those who can do the job not political appointments" [1].
