A 26-year-old woman was killed and her 31-year-old fiancé was hurt when the Proton Persona they were in crashed into the rear of a parked school bus on the MRR2 highway near Taman Layang-Layang at about 2.30am on May 4. [1]
Police said the collision happened on the stretch from Batu Caves towards Kepong, where a Hino international school bus had been left by the roadside without warning signs. Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said, "The car then struck the rear of a Hino international school bus that had been parked by the roadside without any warning signs." [1]
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver suffered head injuries and was taken to Selayang Hospital for treatment. [1]
Preliminary police findings said the driver was travelling in the left lane before he allegedly lost control and veered onto the road shoulder. Police believe he may have fallen asleep at the wheel, but they said investigations are still ongoing. [1]
The crash comes as investigators continue to examine how the car ended up on the shoulder and into the parked bus. [1]
