Police detained 3 men over a fatal machete attack in Bukit Kangkar, Tangkak, and said 2 more suspects are still at large. [1]

The three men were arrested between 7:00 pm and 7:45 pm on April 29 at 3 hotel locations in Melaka Raya and Bandar Hilir after police acted on public information, Superintendent Roslan Mohd Talib said. He said the suspects had been hiding in several hotels in Melaka before their arrest. [1]

Roslan said the men were resting and asleep in their rooms when police found them, and they tried to flee after noticing officers but failed. Police checks also found that all 3 had criminal records linked to drugs and other offences. Roslan said the 24-year-old suspect had 7 previous records, the 26-year-old had 5, and the 32-year-old had 6. [1]

Police said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code. The 3 arrested suspects were remanded for 7 days starting April 30 to help with the probe. [1]

The victim, Tong Wei Sheng, 38, died on arrival at hospital after suffering severe injuries to his arms, legs and back. Police said he was chased by 3 armed men wielding machetes before he was attacked near a food outlet and fled to a house in Batu 9, Bukit Kangkar. [1]
