Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim officially launched the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Day 2026 celebration at Dataran Putrajaya on June 6, 2026 [1, 2, 3]. The event is part of a three-day celebration running from June 5 to June 7, with activities daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m [1, 2, 3].
Anwar Ibrahim spoke under the event theme, "TVET, The Preferred Career Path," which reflects the government’s push to elevate TVET as a mainstream career and a key pillar for preparing Malaysia’s workforce amid industrial and technological changes [1, 3]. He highlighted the role that technical and vocational education plays in shaping future human capital development.
The celebration attracted participation from more than 107 agencies, educational institutions, and industry players across nine key economic sectors, including aerospace, electronics and digital technology, agriculture, transportation and automotive, advanced manufacturing, services, rail, maritime, and energy [1, 2, 3]. These sectors are crucial to Malaysia’s industrial transformation.
The event featured six main hubs focusing on institutional and industry engagement, TVET seminars, career opportunities, entrepreneurship, skills challenges, and educational entertainment. It expected around 500,000 visitors over the three days [1, 2, 3].
National TVET Day is observed annually on June 2 to recognize the importance of technical and vocational education in Malaysia’s human capital development [1, 2, 3]. Under the Malaysia MADANI framework, the government continues to strengthen TVET with programs aligned to technological advances and evolving industry needs [1, 2, 3].
The final day of the National TVET Day 2026 celebration will be June 7, marking the conclusion of the three-day event [1, 2, 3].
