The Royal Malaysia Police called for calm over a growing dispute involving Negeri Sembilan's Adat Perpatih customary system and warned that irresponsible remarks could inflame tensions and disrupt public order. [1]

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said police had received numerous reports tied to sensitive religion, race and royal institution issues, known locally as 3R matters. He said officers would investigate before deciding on the next course of action, and urged all parties to avoid unnecessary comments and false or inaccurate information. [1]

The dispute has gained political weight after 14 assemblymen from UMNO and Barisan Nasional withdrew support for the Negeri Sembilan state government led by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun. They cited concerns over how the Adat Perpatih system fits with the state's constitutional framework. [1]

Khalid said police would continue to ensure security and public order in Negeri Sembilan remain under control. [1]

In the same briefing, police separately said they arrested 69 people in Operation Cyber Guardian 2026, a cross-border effort against online child sexual exploitation involving Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan. [1]

Police said the arrests were made in nationwide raids from April 6 to 8. Investigators targeted 101 people identified through intelligence. Of them, 67 were original targets and 2 were accomplices found during the raids, while others were detained during inspections at the locations. [1]

Police said they would continue investigations before deciding on the next step in the Adat Perpatih case. [1]
