Police arrested a 46-year-old man suspected of belonging to the organised crime group Geng TR on June 3 in a coordinated international operation called Op Lima [1, 2, 3, 4]. The suspect was taken into custody while on a flight from Chennai, India, to Bangkok, Thailand, with cooperation from Indian and Thai authorities [1, 3, 4].
The arrest followed an arrest warrant issued by the Kuala Selangor Magistrate's Court on April 17 and an Interpol Red Notice issued on May 7 [1, 3, 4]. Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar said, "Geng TR has been actively committing violent crimes and drug activities around Selangor since 2021. Arrests were made against the suspects for being members of an organised crime group." [1]
The 46-year-old suspect faces charges under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a prison sentence of five to 20 years [1, 2, 3, 4]. Kumar added, "The suspect has an extensive record involving serious criminal offences, including murder, armed gang robbery and causing injury using weapons." [4]
The suspect was charged at the Sessions Court in Kuala Selangor on June 4 but the case was quickly transferred to the Klang High Court where bail was denied [2]. He appeared in court represented by his lawyer. The case is expected to be heard alongside 54 others facing similar charges alleging membership in organised crime [2].
The Royal Malaysia Police expressed appreciation to Indian and Thai authorities for their close cooperation in the arrest [1, 3, 4]. The investigation and court proceedings are ongoing.
