Perikatan Nasional said on May 4 it will contest all 56 Johor state assembly seats in the next state election and will send candidate names to its central leadership for final approval. [1]

Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal said, "PN will contest all the state constituency seats in Johor," as the opposition coalition set out its plan for the southern state. [1] He said PN is also open to political cooperation with Malaysian United Democratic Alliance, or Muda, but no final decision has been made. [1]

Muda said it plans to contest between 5 and 10 Johor seats, with a focus on mixed urban and rural areas. [1] The party's incumbent Puteri Wangsa assemblyman, Amira Aisya Abd Aziz, will defend the seat. [1] She said, "We also welcome any party that is keen to contest in Puteri Wangsa," while adding that Muda will announce its position when the time comes. [1]

Johor's PN leadership post is currently vacant. Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin has proposed a name to PN's leadership and is waiting for a reply. [1] Puteri Wangsa is also drawing interest from Pakatan Harapan component parties PKR and Amanah, which both want to contest the seat. [1]
