Police in Kelantan are investigating the murder of 19-year-old Kolej Poly-Tech MARA student Nurfisya Zulkifly after her body was found in a paddy field in Ketereh at about 12:22am on 1 May 2026. [1]

A post-mortem found 61 stab wounds on her body, mainly on the right side from her face to her legs, police said. [1] Authorities classified the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. [1]

Members of the public found the body and alerted police. [1] Nurfisya, a third-semester student, was last seen alive at about 11:34pm on 30 April when she uploaded a WhatsApp status showing her having a meal, police said. [1]

Earlier on 30 April, she was seen at a condominium lobby near the Kelantan River in Kota Bharu at about 12:26pm. She was later travelling in a black Honda City and then a white Perodua Bezza with a male companion, according to police. [1]

Police arrested 4 suspects within 24 hours, including two teenage males and an elderly married couple aged 60 and 66. [1] The first arrest was made at about 4:40pm on 1 May, and all 4 were detained by about 2am on 2 May, according to the timeline released by investigators. [1]

The suspects were brought to the Kota Bharu Magistrate’s Court on 2 May and remanded. Police obtained a seven-day remand for the teenage suspects and a three-day remand for the elderly couple. [1]

Nurfisya’s family arrived at the forensic unit of Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II in Kota Bharu on 1 May after being informed of her death. [1]
