A Malaysian Magistrate's Court on April 30 ordered preacher Ebit Lew to enter his defence on 11 sexual harassment charges linked to a woman nearly 5 years ago, after finding the prosecution had made out a prima facie case. [1]

Magistrate Nur Asyraf Zolhani said the court was satisfied that the prosecution had proven all elements of the charge under Section 509 of the Penal Code. He said the evidence was enough for a conviction if it was not refuted or challenged by the defence. [1]

Lew is accused of sending obscene pictures and words through WhatsApp between March and June 2021 with the intent to humiliate the victim's modesty. The case centres on 11 charges of sexual harassment. [1]

His lawyer, Datuk Ram Singh, said the defence planned to call 7 to 10 witnesses at trial. The court has set hearing dates for Oct. 13-16, Nov. 11-13 and 24-27, and Dec. 1-4, 2026. [1]
