14 Negeri Sembilan assemblymen who had withdrawn support for Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun agreed to stay within the framework of the state's Unity Government after a meeting with Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on 2026-04-30. [1]
Zahid said the decision was reached in good faith and was meant to protect the state's royal institution and adat customs. [1] He said: "Withdrawing support is ongoing, but we remain with the Unity Government in Negeri Sembilan." [1]
The withdrawal had earlier triggered several political readings, but Zahid said it should not be seen as an attempt to topple the state government or form a new administration through the back door. [1] He also said: "This is a matter that must be reinterpreted so that there is no wrong perception or misinterpretation on it." [1]
Zahid added: "So, I would like to correct the perception that needs to be corrected," as he sought to shut down speculation around the bloc's position. [1]
The meeting settled the status of all 14 assemblymen who had withdrawn support, leaving them inside the Unity Government arrangement in Negeri Sembilan. [1]
