A 27-year-old Chinese national died after falling from the outer balcony area on Level 3 of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2 in Sepang on May 2 around 2:20 pm, police said [1]. The woman was seen sitting outside the balcony, crying and shouting aggressively before her fall.
Assistant Commissioner A. C. M. Ravi said airport staff and security officers attempted to calm her, but were unsuccessful. A KLIA security officer then approached her to try to rescue her. "However, the woman struggled and jumped into the KLIA2 loading bay area," he said [1].
She was immediately taken to Hospital Putrajaya, where she was pronounced dead at about 5 pm the same day [1]. Police confirmed the victim was due to board a return flight to China on May 2.
A 40-second video of the incident circulated on social media before official confirmation, prompting early speculation about a possible suicide attempt. Another video posted later reportedly showed a man lying face down on a grassy area at the airport, but his condition has not been confirmed [1].
Police said the cause of the incident remains under investigation and the case is being handled under the Sudden Death Report procedure [1].
