Perikatan Nasional (PN) supreme council approved Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) and Parti Wawasan Negara (formerly Parti Cinta Malaysia) as new coalition members on June 22, 2026, ahead of the Johor state election [1, 2, 3, 4, 5].

Parti Cinta Malaysia rebranded itself as Parti Wawasan Negara at a special delegates meeting on June 20 [3, 5]. PN chairman Datuk Seri Ir Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the coalition would finalize seat distribution before nomination day on June 27. “God willing, it will be finalised before nomination day,” he said [1, 2, 4].

PN election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor chaired the seat distribution meeting. He emphasized decisions should be respected by all component parties: “It is already settled. I said the day before yesterday that it was already settled and the meeting concluded well. Any objection after that, that's not our style. Settle it in the meeting, then it's settled,” he said [1, 2, 6, 7].

Pejuang president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir described Pejuang’s entry into PN as beginning "to unite a greater force to save the nation from division, instability and leadership failures that are increasingly worrying the rakyat" [8]. Parti Wawasan Negara president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the party would "add value to PN's strength, particularly in advancing an agenda of change anchored on competence, integrity and stability" [3]. Hamzah also described Wawasan as a bridge connecting more Malaysians and said it would help strengthen Malay political unity between Pas and Umno [9, 5].

However, Bersatu only objected to Parti Wawasan Negara’s admission, not Pejuang's entry. Bersatu vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu criticized the legality and process of Wawasan joining PN, raising concerns over the application and internal coalition tensions [6, 7, 10, 11]. PN leadership rejected revisiting the issue after the supreme council decision, citing the Islamic principle of consultation (syura) for decision-making [6, 7]. Hamzah Zainudin said Wawasan would monitor Bersatu's stance and respond if Bersatu turns adversarial: "If they want to become adversaries, then adversaries it is" [12, 11].

The Johor state election nomination day is set for June 27, with early voting on July 7 and polling on July 11 [1, 2, 4]. PN will finalize its election seat allocations before nomination day as the coalition prepares for the polls.
