Johor's state revenue reached RM1 billion as of April 30, up RM307 million from the same period last year, Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said. He said the state also recorded the highest investment figure in its history. [1]
Onn Hafiz said the investment surge has opened tens of thousands of jobs. He said the West Asia conflict has not shaken foreign investor interest in Johor, and that investors still see the state as stable despite global uncertainty. [1, 2]
He said more than 30 companies have expressed interest in investing and expanding in the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone after the state government's recent visit to China. Onn Hafiz said the working visit showed continued interest from domestic companies looking to expand operations in Johor, and he cited feedback from global logistics group DHL as further evidence of the state's appeal. [2]
Johor has also set aside RM138 million for the fourth phase of the Bantuan Kasih Johor welfare programme. The package is expected to benefit more than 600,000 people through 22 initiatives covering senior citizens, unemployed housewives, newly married couples, hawkers, small traders and other target groups. [3]
The fourth phase includes cash aid of RM200 for more than 307,000 senior citizens and RM200 for 136,000 unemployed housewives. Newly married couples will receive RM400 each, while nearly 30,000 registered hawkers and small traders will get RM300 each. Onn Hafiz said the fourth phase was based on feedback from recipients during earlier rounds of the programme. [3]
