Equinix said on Tuesday it will build KL2, a new data centre in Cyberjaya, Selangor, Malaysia, in a project valued at US$190 million, or about RM747 million. [1, 2, 3, 4]

The site will stand less than 1 km from Equinix’s existing KL1 data centre and is expected to provide more than 2,200 cabinets when fully built out. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Equinix said KL2 will be its fourth data centre in Malaysia and will serve digital companies, hyperscalers and multinational enterprises. The company said the facility is aimed at AI and high-performance computing workloads, with a substantial portion of capacity set aside for liquid cooling. [1, 2, 3, 4]

The company said the site is targeting 100% renewable energy coverage from day one of operations. Equinix also said it has secured adjacent land for future growth as part of its long-term expansion strategy in Malaysia. [1, 2, 3, 4]
