Pony AI said its upgraded seventh-generation robotaxi now costs below 230,000 yuan ($33,700), including the base vehicle, battery and autonomous driving kit, as Chinese robotaxi firms push global roll-outs using lower China-made costs. [1]

The company said the price makes the vehicle cheaper than a basic Tesla Model 3. It said the lower bill of materials should help it scale fleets faster as it expands outside China with other firms such as WeRide. [1]

James Peng, Pony AI’s founder and CEO, described robotaxis as a new mode of transport rather than just driverless taxis. He said they could serve as “private, safe mobile spaces for work, leisure and daily travel.” [1]

Pony AI said the supply chain in China has helped cut costs and improve efficiency for robotaxi makers seeking to roll out more vehicles in more markets. The company has positioned the latest model as part of that push. [1]

The seventh-generation robotaxi is set to hit the market next year. [1]
