China’s micro drama industry is using AI and state funding to speed up production, and South Korean company Vigloo says it has sharply cut both time and cost by adopting AI-driven workflows this year. [1]
Vigloo said it now spends roughly 30% of its budget on AI-driven workflows. The company said those changes have cut the time to make a show from 3 months to 1 month and reduced production costs to one-fifth of the previous level. [1]
The company is also starting to let AI agents handle core tasks such as script writing, while human producers review the results. [1]
China is widely described as the pioneer of micro dramas, also called vertical dramas, which use short episodes that end with cliff-hangers to keep viewers watching on mobile screens. [1]
Vigloo’s expanded use of AI came this year, as China’s micro drama market has leaned on new tools and state support to speed output. [1]
